Dawn Kolbet

Dawn is one of Hallowed Oaks Grove's new members.  She has a very diverse background both career wise and spiritually.  She is a 6 year Navy veteran who spent her time in the service jumping out of perfectly good helicopters.  Since leaving active duty, she has worked for companies that specialize in government work and is currently employed by a large electronics manufacturer.  Dawn's job is challenging, keeps her hopping, and generally keeps her on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. However, she wouldn't trade it for anything. Dawn loves to write, especially poetry.  She has contributed poems to a few rituals including the Unity Rite held this past March.  She also sings (if you can talk her into it), writes stories, and has played several woodwind instruments over the years. She claims, however, her best talent is her devotion to her friends and family.

Dawn is happily married to a wonderful man, Arthur, who is also a new member of Hallowed Oaks Grove, ADF, and they have three terrific children. Life is not always easy as they found out when Dawn's daughter, Deianira, was diagnosed with the rare degenerative macular disease, Stargardt's Disease. She is her mother's inspiration with her strength and determination in the face of a disease with no treatment and no cure. For information about this disease along with many others and to help support efforts in research, please contact the Foundation Fighting Blindness.

Dawn came to Hallowed Oaks Grove as a guest at Yule of 2006. She found a warm, welcoming atmosphere of people who shared a great deal of her views and a love for one another that is incredibly strong. It felt like home from the first moment. Dawn had spent a great number of years reading about Wicca, Buddhism, the ancient mythologies, and the ancient religions.  It about floored her to find people so willing to allow her to find herself and her own path. Today Dawn is progressing on her studies with a large interest in Wicca and is marveled at the knowledge, love, kindness, and hearth she has found in the family she proudly calls herself part of, Hallowed Oaks Grove.
